Being a “webmaster” (should we retire that word?) is a lot of fun. There are so many tools that make being a webmaster easy and enjoyable.
The best tool ever – statistics! Also known as analytics. With statistics, you get to learn what words and phrases people searched for and found your website.
Day after day, the same keywords show up in my statistics:
- QGIS and KML – People are finding my tutorial on how to use QGIS to convert between shapefiles and KML files.
- QGIS and geocoding – Refers to my tutorial on how to use the free and open source QGIS program to geocode addresses or my tutorial on how to use BatchGeocode.com in concert with QGIS.
- high speed rail illinois – Visitors find an article giving an update on HSR construction
- “wells street” buffered bike lane – This is recently new and refers to CDOT’s almost proposed buffered bike lane on Wells Street leading into downtown.
- randy neufeld – SRAM employee, founder of what is now Active Transportation Alliance, gave an inspiring presentation at the same event as David Byrne
David Bryne, Luann Hamilton, Randy Neufeld, and Jacky Grimshaw (in the back) were the panelists at “Cities, Bicycles and the Future of Getting Around: A Special Urban Sustainability Forum with David Byrne.”
